Day 8 of the tour

Day 8 of the tour was the final day. I got up pretty early, around 4.30,
and woke Kishore up and started driving towards Phoneix, where I had a
flight to NY from. We rather took a slighly different route and convered
the scenic national park on the way. We stopped by, had a cup of coffee
and I started driving towards Phoneix again until Amit took over for the
remaining part of the tour. Again, a difference between Europe and US
airports, trust me, you have small parking areas for Mobile users, and
generally it is a small projected area in most airports in Europe, but I
was so surprised that this area here in Phoenix had atleast space for
around 100 cars, I was so amazed, I naively asked Amit, if I had to go
in and park or if I had to just park by the curb, I am sure he was
surprised at my question, I could see this in both Amit's and Suchita's
faces. Well, I could not help myself. I got off there. We had a look at
the Vehicle, checked for our stuffs. Amit, Suchita and Kishore went to
Suchita's cousins place, I hope they were able to return the RV we
rented and all went fine.

One of the things that clearly we could not help about was the fact that
there were really no pot lucks, Actually we honesly planned quite a few
but thanks to the memorial day weekend, it did not take shape. We
perhaps could not raise awareness as we originally intended to, but
trust us, we had this in our mind all the time and were quite concious
of this. Well, thanks for all your support and we promise, we will carry
the list of contributors in the website soon. We are in the process of
collecting some money from my buddies at Cranfield Health in the UK.

Thanks for all your support
Besto friends,
We love you all,

Amit, Suchita, Kishore, Kemp, and Sreenath

Day 7 of the tour

Day 7 of the tour

We did see bits of Las vegas and wanted to conver Grand Canyon West Rim
and reached the mouth of entrance to find that the road leading towards
this rim is not accessible by truck, well perhaps, we did not want to
take a risk driving on the unmarked roads, well, we were not allowed
this on our contracts anyway. We decided that we will get back to Las
Vegas to the same RV park and fortunately, we were able to manage the
booking on the same bay we parked our RV the day before. Really, I have
to be honest, I drove my friends to their limits, the heat was
unbearable and I did make concious efforts to cope with it and gel well
with the rest of the group, but had to confine myself to the RV for most
parts of the day. It was indeed boiling hot, but I knew that I always
had problems with the heat. We reached the Southern Rim and took the
Chopper ride, well, thanks to Amit and Suchita, they managed to get 2
more additional seats, for there were only 2 seats on the Chopper
available. We had really breathtaking views of the Canyon, (pics will be
uploaded soon). After this, we came back to our RVs, drove back to our
RV park and slept there. I was at this time thinking about the 65mph
speed limit and how I should remember that it is not 75mph at night,
unless otherwise specified. The other problem that I had was that I was
going on to the navigator side of the door thinking that I was driving,
when I was not meant to and would end up going to drivers side of the
door thinking I was going to sit in the Navigators seat. I also made
mistakes twice in almost taking over in the opposite side of the road,
quickly corrected by Kishore and Amit.- Sree

RE: Day 3 of the tour

Day 6 of the tour

Well, it was really funny and I was honestly trying to cope with the
differences between driving in the UK/Europe against driving in the US,
this is inspite of the fact that I have had 3 years of driving
experience in the US prior to coming back to the UK. For example, you
could drive faster in the Europe in the nights compared to the day
times, coz of relatively low traffic, and guess what, it is exactly
opposite in the US. Though I did know it at the corner of my mind, I
still drove at 79 for the permitted 65, and I was alwaying thinking it
is 75. Pew, yes, I got the popular speeding ticket Amit was talking
about, ya, it was me mates. Well, Amit took over and then it was
suddenly fine all over again. We had a customery fag at McDonalds this
day and then started driving towards west on I-10, well, crossing
deserts of west of Texas and Arizona, I was completely exhausted and
Amit had to take care of both driving and taking pictures, stopping in
between to have some brief rest before continuing. We proceeded towards
Riverside in California and then started driving towards Las Vegas. This
is where we picked Suchita. We did spend that night in Las vegas at one
of the famous RV parts, really close to the city center. We did have a
dinner there at one of the Indian restaurants and came back to rest.
Rest on Day 7 of the tour. We will update all our pictures pretty soon.
